PreWedding Activities

The planning of pre-marriage is a little extra something that is not necessary, but certainly fun and entertaining for guests. If the bride and groom keep in mind the distance traveled some guests and keep relevant activities at this level of fatigue, they are sure to hit on some winning activities. As you go about planning for marriage, keep in mind that many other factors. Do many people have children with them? Will you offer children will be participating in activities? If you have many guests who are older, perhaps activities can be adapted in a ay they can also participate.

Some of the most popular pre-wedding activities include things like a group manicure. All women in wedding party or ho are close to the bride (and certainly this could include men if they want to manicure and hang out with the ladies) head to a nail salon and have their nails done. This can be relaxing for many women and provide a welcome from the hustle and bustle of the weekend wedding. The men might choose to play golf or a game of tennis while that happens.

Many brides and grooms choose to provide structured activities for their guests before the wedding. If marriage is a Saturday night, for example, they could choose to provide a Friday activity, especially when most guests are local to the wedding. You may have a wedding luau. Many time pre-wedding activities center around bachelor and bachelorette parties, but what about a stag party which includes all members of the brides ang grooms families? You could plan fun games and you go to a restaurant for a night of fun and games. Be sure to limit the drinking and carousing that it might not sit well with some members of the family.

Here is a fun activity that can be done just before the wedding. Have someone to start a gift basket. The theme of the basket is “advice for the couple” and could be started by the best man or maid of honor. They take the cart to the house of someone else, perhaps an aunt or cousin and leave it on the doorstep. This person adds an item (a book on how to end spousal arguments? Or a CD of romantic music?) and brings the basket to someone else’s house. This activity may start a week or two before the wedding and everyone should know it is coming around.

The basket can also be circulated on the weekend of wedding, but this ill only work if everyone is local and if they know the cart is coming. In this case, it might be useful to have someone bring the basket to the next location, reducing the need to have each person take the basket to its next location. Once it is full, someone can be in charge of putting the basket items together, wrapping it all to make it look nice and bring it to the bride and groom. It can be delivered to the wedding as a gift in itself.

Whatever activity you choose, be sure to keep in mind your guests’ needs and limitations of these hosts. If you want to plan an activity that includes everyone, and that you choose to golf, but grandfather in a wheelchair or using a walker, which might not be the best plan for the activity.
